Spring Smells Like

Like lambs and sheep, the earthy smell of lanolin and hay. The smell of  straw and windy days with overcast skies. In the spring I smell earth and potting soil and the woodstove, still. I smell skirts and cardigans being washed for the first time since fall, not down jackets and winter boots. Spring smells of the promise of summer days and adventures.
